Petar Dundov - Escapements



Producer Petar Dundov runs his own ‘Neumatik’ studio and multimedia company where he works as a sound engineer as well as producing his own take on techno, house and electronica. The new album ‘Escapements’ is his most accomplished work to date and features beautifully layered techno, hypnotic rhythms and shimmering melodies that make this a real landmark release for the Croatian DJ/producer. The lead single ‘Oasis’ is complimented by a remix from Substance & Vainqueur and follow up singles will include mixes from Detroit’s Echospace, Dub Kult and DFA’s Gavin Russom.

Since his first foray into the world of electronic production he has now released on selected labels including Cocoon. In 2001 he released the ambient album ‘Sculptures 1-3? on Jeff Mills’ Tomorrow label and he has even worked on a soundtrack for ballet noir “Torsia” in Zagreb through his own studio and multimedia company www.neumatik.hr.

After a short creative break Petar released the single “Running Man” and brought attention back to his music. The single also announced the direction and concept of his forthcoming album ‘Escapements’. Fusing hypnotic rhythms, bubbling melodies, intricate atmospheres and a soundtrack like quality ‘Escapements’ exists in a nocturnal post club hinterland where the bass and beats of the nights clubbing still echo through your ears as night turns into day.

Taking the listener from the club to a tripped out dreamscape, ‘Escapements’ brings musicality back to techno and shows that minimal need not be one dimensional. Driving, thrilling and emotionally charged ‘Escapements’ is set to cross the techno/house/trance divide and become one of the essential electronic albums of 2008.

Aya Mavra vs Deeper Moments & Robert K - Teotihuacan

Aya Mavra is Adam Kovacsics and Barnabas Kesztler from Hungary, and together with Deeper Moments & Robert K from Romania (real names Krisztián Balázs and Robert-Árpád Kiss) they have created the track "Teotihuacan", which comes with 2 remixes. The original mix quickly establishes a dark and haunting atmosphere with many various drum layers to increase the deep mood. Sweeping synths and other cool elements lead up to the unique theme played by a rather fascinating bell synth.

First remix comes from Frangellico from Argentina. Its overall vibe is the same type as the original mix, but Frangellico has created some nice, sweeping choir layers and a strong beat and bassline to make this remix even more pumping and intriguing.

Deeper Moments & Robert K provide the second and last remix which includes fine new melodies and synth layers. The beat is very driving and fits the many synth lines very well. Later in the track an ultra-techy part appears - just to vary this rather atmospheric mix a little.

Sony Relaunches Deconstruction "In a joint venture between Sony’s Senior Vice President of A&R Mike Pickering, one of the founder members, and Three Six Zero Group's AnD press, the dance imprint will return with a series of back catalogue releases before signing new artists later in the year. Deconstruction Records was founded in 1987 and ran until 2001. It quickly gained a strong reputation for cutting-edge, contemporary dance music. Beyond signing the major crossover dance hits of the time, the label excelled in developing artists such as Black Box, M People, Way Out West, Sasha, Republica, Kylie Minogue, N Joi, and many more, and was at the forefront of the Italo house movement. Deconstruction was also the parent label for Concrete Recordings, responsible for acts such as Lionrock, Death In Vegas, Dub Pistols, and others. Working with AnD Press, the label’s first re-release is Sasha’s ‘Xpander’, accompanied with new mixes, and available via Beatport from 3rd August. Am keen to hear the back catalogue of DC released digitally and remixed, there are some great tunes in there. As for Xpander remixed, I hope somebody does it justice, or else takes it in a completely different quirky direction.
